DOUBLE CROSS

Straight Edge Hardcore Online

It begins now…

Double Cross is that concept that will never die. Born as an idea to start a printed fanzine back in 1998. Interviews were done, photographs had been collected over the previous 10 years, but the project never got off the ground. Fast forward to 2004, catching up with the digital age, Double Cross takes on a new concept, a full blown website. Again, pieces started being put into place. A domain was saved, an initial page was designed, 3 different T shirts were designed, printed and sold, but in the end, the same result. Just like the fanzine never came to fruition, the website was never launched. Still material was piling up as it had been since 1988. Photos, interviews, videos, articles, anecdotes, etc were waiting to see the light of day. Finally in 2008, I decided to make something happen. Blogs had become common place. Some done well, some done not so well. Although the term “blog” or “webzine” always left a bad taste in my mouth, the concept was undeniably simple to start up and easy to maintain. I felt that if done right, the blog format could serve it’s purpose. So here we are, 10 years since it’s inception and 20 years since my first printed fanzine. In some form, Double Cross has finally become a reality.

Although some of the material that you will find on Double Cross may be old, I don’t consider any of it to be outdated. Historical maybe, but irrelevant, I beg to differ. Right now, the content you will find is primarily based on old interviews, videos, photos and stories, but in the future, current and newer bands will be featured. There’s an obvious slant towards the late 80’s straight edge hardcore scene (because that is something we hold near and dear to our hearts), but it won’t necessarily be exclusively that. Whatever is to come, will come naturally and not forced. If you like what you see and read and would like to contribute, please get in touch. Gordo and I are working daily for more content and we’ve probably got the rest of the year mapped out with ideas, but like I said, contributions are welcomed. For now, check out what we’ve put together so far and bookmark the site if you enjoy what you see. Thanks and take care. —Tim McMahon DCXX
